Carmela (Boccarossa) Sirena

Carmela Sirena, 81, a resident of Port Chester died on September 24, 2017. She was born in Picinisco, Frosinone, Italy on March 12, 1936 to the late Carmine and Genoveffa Valvona Boccarossa and was raised by her father and her second mother Maria in Italy. Carmela immigrated to the United States with her father in 1955 and settled in Port Chester. On December 7, 1958 she married her beloved husband Leonardo Sirena (who predeceased her) at Corpus Christi Church in Port Chester were she was a lifelong parishioner.  and celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 2008. She is survived by son Antonio Sirena (wife Evelyn) of Thornwood, NY., daughters Giulia Byrnes (husband David) of Port Chester, and Maria Sirena (husband Christopher Marro) of Port Chester, granddaughter Laura Byrnes Ianello (husband Andy), grandsons David James Byrnes, Jr. and Nicholas Leonardo Sirena, great grandchildren Ava Brooke and Andrew James Ianello,  her sibilings Gerardo Boccarossa, Vittorio Boccarossa (wife Rita), Dario Boccarossa (wife Debra), Genoveffa Boccarossa and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Renaldo, Michael and Antonio Boccarossa. Carmela was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all and will be great missed. We would also like to thank her aides Isabel, Mary and Nana who took exceptional care of her over the last number of years. Visitation will be 4-8PM on Wednesday September 27, 2017 at Craft Memorial Home, Inc. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10AM on Thursday September 28, 2017 at Saint John Bosco Parish (Corpus Christi) 136 South Regent St. Port Chester, NY. Interment to follow at Greenwood Union Cemetery Rye, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donation to the Alzheimer Association.  Alz.org
