Emelia (Smith) Mitchell

Emelia F. Mitchell (nee Smith), wife of the late Thomas Mitchell, passed away on January 25, 2015. Born February 9, 1931 Co. Cavan, Ireland, she immigrated to the USA in 1952 with her sister, the late Mary Jane Smith, settling in Port Chester. She worked as a private nurse’s aide to families in Greenwich and Rye. She was a member of St. Peters Episcopal Church, the Port Chester Irish American Club and the Byram Veterans Association.

She is survived by her sons Thomas, wife Mary (McPhillips); Steven, wife Debra (Therio) and their children Brendan, Connor and Kate; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brothers Johnny, William, Archie, and sister Sarah Bell, all of Ireland; and sister Mary Jane Smith of Greenwich.

Calling hours will be Saturday, January 31, 12 to 2PM, followed by a memorial service at Craft Memorial Home, 40 Leicester Street, Port Chester, NY, 10573.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Byram Veterans Association in memory of Emelia and Thomas Mitchell.
