Frank “Doc” Sniadack passed away on December 11, 2014. He was 91 years old. Frank was born and raised in New Britain, Connecticut. He excelled in high school football, baseball and basketball and was inducted into the New Britain Sports Hall of Fame. After serving in the Merchant Marine during World War II, he earned a football scholarship to Columbia University, where he played offensive center and defensive middle linebacker. He was voted All American, and played in both the East-West and North-South All-Star games. Following his graduation, he played professional football with the Patterson Panthers, and soon after dedicated his life to the formation of young men and women, serving as physical education teacher and head coach at Killingly High School in Connecticut, and Port Chester High School and Rye Neck High School in NY. He was selected as Westchester County Coach of the year three times. During his 40 year career as teacher and coach, he influenced the lives of thousands of young men and women, teaching them the value of self-discipline, self-sacrifice, team work and courage.
Frank is survived by his daughter Katherine E Roode of Lake Carmel, NY, son Dr. David H Sniadack and wife Margarita of Atlanta, GA, daughter-in-law Rosemarie Sniadack of Ossining, grandchildren Dawn Marie Ausiello and Tracy Ann Polito, and great grandchildren Jeffrey and Jason Ausiello, Amanda and Jake Polito, and Anthony and Nikko Mazzucca. He was pre-deceased by his wife Ruth and sons Frank and Thomas Sniadack. Visitation will be held at the Craft Memorial Home on Tuesday, December 16, from 5 – 9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:45 AM at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 360 Westchester Avenue, Port Chester, NY; internment to follow at Greenwood Union Cemetery.
