Dr. John "Jack" Sergeant, MD, 92 years old of Douglassville, PA died July 4, 2017. Born on August 18, 1924 in Waukegan, Illinois, Jack attended CCNY, University of Pittsburgh and graduated from Haverford College PA. Ultimately, Jack graduated from New York Medical College, Flower 5th Avenue Hospital in New York. Jack proudly served as Captain in the US Army Medical Corp during World War II and the Korean War, notably serving in Guam and Japan.
While on leave from the Far East, Jack married Doris Amico on April 18, 1953. After a medical residency at Grassland Hospital in New York and following his honorable military discharge in 1955, Jack along with several colleagues founded the Sayreville Medical Group in Sayerville, New Jersey and Old Bridge Medical Group in Old Bridge, New Jersey.  He served as an internal medicine physician at these offices, and also at the former Middlesex Hospital and St. Peter's Hospital, New Brunswick, NJ. Following his retirement in 1999, Dr. Sergeant was recognized for 50 years of dedicated service to the field of internal medicine by New York Medical College. Jack was predeceased by his wife Doris after 46 years of marriage and his later companion Marilyn Guido. Surviving are his sister, Eleanor Hetherington, daughters Phyllis (husband Gerald) DeCuollo and Grace Eisenhart and son Stephen Sergeant; grandchildren Alecia DeCuollo, Sarah Eisenhart and Aidan Eisenhart. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9:30Am on Tuesday July 11, 2017 at Our Lady of Mercy Church 260 Westchester Ave. Port Chester, NY. Interment to follow at Saint Mary's Cemetery Rye Brook, NY. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the charity of ones choice.
