Viola Berlanti Roberto, age 99,  passed away on September 10, 2015 in Huntington Beach, California.  Viola was born in Plainville, Connecticut on July 10, 1916, the fifth of nine children of Frederic and Mary Berlanti.Viola spent her early years on the family farm in Connecticut and moved to Harrison, New York when she was 11 years old.  She lived in Westchester County, New York for most of her life until the last few years when she resided in Huntington Beach, California. On September 26, 1937, Viola married Samuel Roberto, and they were married for 65 years until Samuel’s death in 2002.  He was the love of her life, and she his.  Viola and Samuel had two daughters, two grandchildren and four great grandchildren, leaving them many fond memories of her. Ahead of her time, Viola owned and operated a retail apparel store from the mid 1960s until the early 1970s.  She was an early pioneer of the path that future generations of women would take to reach their personal and career dreams.  Viola’s daughter and son-in-law, Lois and Carmen Carriero of Bonita Springs, Florida, and her daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Gerald Seavey of Huntington Beach, California, survive her.  She is also survived by her grandson, Mark Carriero, and his spouse, Sue Carriero, and their two children, Emily and Joey Carriero, and her granddaughter, Joanne Maida, and her spouse, Anthony Maida Jr., and their two children, Laura and Rebecca Maida. A funeral mass will be held at Corpus Christi Church, 136 South Regent Street, Port Chester, New York on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at 10:00 a.m., followed by a burial service at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Rye Brook, New York.  There will be no visitation.
