Giovanna (Olio) Puglia

Giovanna Puglia, 89, a resident of Rye Brook, passed away on September 5, 2017 in her native town in Sicily. She was born on July 24, 1928 in Limina (Messina), Italy to the late Giuseppe Olio and Maria Cannavò Olio.  Mrs. Puglia immigrated to the United States in 1966 with her husband, Sebastiano, deceased in June 2015, and her five children.  She and Sebastiano were married for over 70 years.  Giovanna was a parishioner of Corpus Christi Church in Port Chester.  She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She dedicated her life to her family and friends.  Her generosity, warmth, and affection embraced all those who were blessed to be around her.  She is survived by her beloved family: her children Giuseppe Puglia, Maria Messina, Nunzia Ricciardi, Dora Williams, and Anna Cappucci; sons-in-law Philip, Natale, Christopher, and Vincent; daughter-in-law Dorothy; grandchildren John, Anthony, Sara, Joann, Daniela, Angela, Laura, David, Michael, Ronald, Roger, Daniel, Vincent, and Andrew; nine great-grandchildren; brother Philip Olio; sister-in-law Phyllis; nieces Christina and Diana; and nephew Michael.  She is also survived by her loving niece and nephews in Italy: Sarina Cannavò, Filippo Cannavò, Antonio Russo, and Giuseppe Cannavò.
