Sister Grace E. Williams (Local Preacher)
Sister Grace Williams , the daughter of the late Mr. Benjamin Peterson and Hannah (Bower) Peterson. She was born in Port Chester, New York , on December 18, 1927.She was the youngest of nine children.
She received her education through the Port Chester Rye Brook Public School System. She spent many years working as a domestic worker cleaning houses. She always loved helping others . she always knew that God had a calling on her life. One day she said that she was in her room and that she heard a small voice whisper in her ear and say to her to lay hands on their foreheads and pray the prayer of faith and the prayer of faith shall save the sick and the Lord will raise them up to touch , heal, and deliver.
She began her early ministry work going out on the streets with a bullhorn and passing out Gospel Tracts. She also held services where she lives at the Port Chester Housing Authority Community Room.
She would console people and encourage who had problems and let them know that the Lord loves them.
As a lifetime member of Port Chester and member of St. Frances A.M.E. Zion church Sister Williams received her religious education from several places. She attended Tabernacle Bible Institute with Reverend Dr. Eloise Young in White Plains , New York. She also took many classes at St. Catherine A.M.E. Zion Church in New Rochelle with Reverend Isadora Branch Jr. and she was also attended classes wih Reverend Natalie R. Wimberly. She was a lifetime member of the W.H.O.M. Society. She sung in the church choir formally called The Family Life Council, attended Sunday School . She was a member of the Usher Board. She was also a very devote member of the Soup Kitchen. She had worked with the program from the very beginning with Joyce Banks who was the coordinator. She would often help at the Carver Center with their Annual Thanksgiving program feeding the seniors. She would spend much of her time going out to the Nursing homes praying and visiting the sick and asking God to heal their bodies. Sr. Williams always show a love for the Lord and love for people. She will let you know that God told her that everything is going to be alright.
Sr. Williams loved reading her Bible and when she was healthy preparing her sermons to bring a word to her church family. She loved the Lord so much that you would often see her in the pulpit doing her little dance for the Lord and praising and lifting up His name. She liked cooking and she loved to go shopping. She was often seen out and about in the stores shopping with her granddaughter Christine and son Woody.
Grace was predeceased by her husband Curtis Williams, Mother Hannah Peterson, Father Benjamin Peterson, Sister Lillian (Peterson) Brown, Nettie Peterson, George Peterson, William Peterson, Benjamin Peterson Jr.,Frank Peterson, Robert Peterson,and Lester Peterson,
She leaves to cherish her memories her children Curtis Williams Jr., Woodrow Williams, Grace (Wiiliams) Young, Lester Williams and daughter in law Mary Williams of Port Chester She was the loving grandmother to Christine Moore, Tracey Young and Randy Toscano, Crystal (Young) Gedin and Arthur Gedin, Michele Young, Larmont Young Jr. Lester Williams Jr. , Sharnice Williams, Sharetta (Williams) Ranaghan .


Loving Great grandmother to David Himpel Jr., Joshua Gedin, Christopher Young, Michelle (Young ) Patrick, Brianna( Young ) Harris ,Isaiah Young ,Athena Marie Camacho, Brealeigh Williams, Lanicia Williams, and loving great-great grandmother of Malana Patrick, Mia Patrick, Miera Patrick, Minah Sommer Patrick.
She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews , close friends and aquaintances
