Maria Antoinette Tynan, known by most as “Toni”, a longtime Greenwich resident, passed away peacefully with her family beside her on August 3, 2017 at King Street Nursing Home, at the age of 79.  Born in Port Chester, New York on September 5, 1937 to the late Antonio and Immacolata Martello, Toni attended Port Chester schools and graduated from Port Chester High School in 1956.  Toni furthered her education, graduating from Fordham University with a degree in Social Sciences, and Bernard Baruch Graduate School of Business.  Toni also earned a “Paralegal Certificate” from Manhatanville College. Toni married William Tynan in 1964, who predeceased her.
Toni was a selfless, kind and generous person; always seeing to the needs of others, never asking for herself, a giver and never a taker.  No matter what problems in life confronted her, she was not known to complain. Toni’s family meant everything to her, always looking to help no matter what the problem. Toni is now in heaven, enjoying the company of family and friends that predeceased her, most importantly her beloved husband Bill, her parents Antonio and Immacolata Martello and brother Rocco.  Toni’s faith in Our Lord, Jesus Christ, will keep her safe for eternity. Toni’s professional career spanned more than fifty years, including various positions with Trans World Airlines and the Town of Greenwich. At TWA, Toni served as Account Manager, Supervisor-Passenger Services, Account Executive-Sales and Marketing, Manager-Sales Development, and Manager-International Offline Sales. With the Town of Greenwich, Toni worked several years at the Board of Education as Administrative Assistant to the Director, and then with the Greenwich Library as Assistant to the Director until her retirement.
Toni is survived by her loving family, brother Anthony Martello and sister-in-law Patricia Martello of Riverside, Connecticut, sister Jacqueline Brown and brother-in-law Ronald Brown of Rye Brook, New York, nephews Anthony Martello, Peter Brown and Ronald Brown, niece Claudia Lo Bosco, and great nephews Hunter Brown and Harrison Brown, and great nieces Sarah LoBosco, Jessica LoBosco, and Reagan Brown.
Toni loved to travel, and made great use of her travel privileges working for TWA, which privileges continued after retiring from TWA.  Toni’s family was fortunate to also enjoy the TWA travel privileges.  Toni also enjoyed Broadway plays, concerts, ballet, and opera.
Visitation will be 4-8PM on Monday August 7, 2017 at Craft Memorial Home, Inc.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30AM on Tuesday August 8, 2017 at the Parish of Saint John Bosco @ Our Lady of Mercy 260 Westchester Ave. Port Chester, NY, followed by entombment at Saint Mary’s Cemetery, North Street, Greenwich, Connecticut.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 200 Executive Blvd., Suite 48, Southington, Ct. 06489, or to a charity of your choice.
