Marjorie J (Gaynor) Strassburg

Marjorie J. Strassburg, a long time Port Chester resident,  passed away peacefully on August 10, 2018 at the age of 93.   Mrs. Strassburg was born on October 3, 1924 to the late John and Mildred Yustis Gaynor.  Marjorie was raised and educated in Port Chester and after graduating from Port Chester Senior High School, she went on to work for the New York Telephone Company as both an operator and a customer service representative. She retired in 1985 after 35 years of service.
In May, 1955, Marjorie married Henry F. Strassburg at Our Lady of Mercy Church, a marriage that lasted 50 years up until Henrys passing in 2006. Marjorie was a devoted member of Our Lady of Mercy Church and the Port Chester Seniors group where she enjoyed many activities such as painting, crafts and bridge.  Marjorie also loved being near the water and spent many happy occasions walking on the Playland Pier and at Oakland Beach.
Marjorie is survived by her 3 daughters, Diane McCaffrey (Patrick) along with their children, Meghan, Jack, and KerryAnn; Janice Strassburg and her children, Rachel and Mark; and Cynthia Funigiello (Frank) and their children, Frank and Jennifer.   Marjorie was predeceased by her parents, her husband Henry, her brother Edward and her sister Isabelle.  Visitation will be 4-8PM on Tuesday August 14, 2018 at Craft Memorial Home, Inc.
 Mass of Christian Burial will take place 10AM on Wednesday August15, 2018 at Our Lady of Mercy Church / St. John Bosco Parish 260 Westchester Ave. Port Chester, NY followed by Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery.  Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon her.
