Stanley Zak Obituary

Stanley Zak, 91, a resident of Port Chester, New York, passed away peacefully September 19, 2019, in his home with family by his side. He was born February 18,1928, in Port Chester to the late Thomas and Nellie Reyman Zak. Mr. Zak was raised and educated in Port Chester, graduating from Port Chester High School in 1945. He served in the United States Navy and was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War. He was an engineer for NYNEX Communications in New York City for many years until retirement. Mr. Zak was an avid amateur radio operator (K2SJO) and was a member of ARRL and HARC, serving as director and vice director of the Hudson division. He was also active with the Boy Scouts of America in Port Chester and with the Civil Defense. Mr. Zak was a former trustee in the Village of Rye Brook and was actively involved in the formation of Rye Brook. He is survived by his wife Joan MacFarlane Zak and daughter Donna Zak both of Port Chester, daughter Laura Holman and husband David of Los Angeles, CA., grandchildren Zak and Jake Holman, sister Phyllis Snedden of Boise, Idaho, and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his brother Edward Zak and sisters Victoria Sroka, Pauline Bisanzo, Mary Marcin and Agnes Talar.  A graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 4, 2019, at Greenwood Union Cemetery, Rye, NY. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
