Angelo Rubino Obituary

Angelo J. Rubino, 91, a lifelong resident of Port Chester passed away February 13, 2023.  He was born March 1,
1931 in Port Chester to the late Angelo and Maria Noia Rubino. He was a graduate of Port Chester High School in
1948. He served in the United States Airforce as a musician in the United States Airforce Band stationed at March Airforce Base in California. He was married September 21,1952 to Ann Posillipo at Corpus Christi Church in Port Chester.

As a musician, Angie’s dedication to his music was unrivaled. Since his high school days, he has been a professional musician leading his own bands playing all kinds of events, from weddings to fund raisers to political functions and holiday parties throughout New York and Connecticut. Everyone knew Angie and a party wasn’t complete unless Angie and his band were there. He was the consummate showman. He made sure everyone was having a good time on the stage and off as he would also laugh and joke with the audience even on the band breaks. He never tired. He was fiercely loyal to all the guys in his bands and always made sure they were taken care of as well.

By day, Angelo was the Supervisor of Probation for the County of Westchester and after retirement returned on a part time basis. Here he helped countless number of people navigate a difficult time in their lives and received many notes of appreciation as his advice and knowledge of the court system was unparalleled.

He was a devoted parishioner of the Corpus Christi Church in Port Chester and was a member of the church's choir and president of the Holy Name Society.  He served as chairman of the Port Chester Democratic Party for 15 years, was a member of the Tamarack Tower Foundation and the Port Chester Italian Heritage Club. He was a 4th Degree Member of the Port Chester Knights of Columbus, Port Chester Old Timers, and was the Entertainment Chairman for the Village of Port Chester Recreation Department. As Chairman, Angie dedicated many years of hard work to help plan and organize the Recreation Department Summer Concerts, including Port Chester Day. His own band performed in Lyon Park many times over the years. Angie was also the Host/Emcee of all the Entertainment Committee events. Every year for Port Chester Day, Angie would be in Lyon
Park from Noon to 9:00pm introducing each performer, keeping the schedule moving and making sure everyone
was entertained. Angie also hosted the Friday Night Concerts as well as all the other events like Halloween In
The Park, Santa In The Park and more.

Angie was always there to help the Village Of Port Chester.

Angie’s charity work extended beyond Port Chester to an organization in Norwalk, CT called STAR, Inc., a non-profit that helps children and adults with developmental disabilities. After playing a band job for the organization, he was moved to do more. He came home to his wife Ann that night where they decided to raise as much money they could for STAR. With his gift of music and Ann’s organizational skills, they formed a committee and proceeded to host dinner/dances for the next 30 years. After 15 years, in recognition of their dedication, STAR renamed their Birth to Three Year Old program, The Rubino Center, after them. In total, they raised over one million dollars for the non-profit.

The entertainment never stopped for Angie. He saw the need to lift the spirits of the seniors living in the area’s nursing and assisted living homes. So he formed a vocal choir that included his wife, Ann, and other seniors, who would sing at the various senior centers throughout NewYork.

He is survived by his beloved wife Ann Rubino of Port Chester, NY., sons, Angelo Rubino and his wife Laurie of Port Chester, NY., and John Rubino and his wife Cindy of Pound Ridge, NY., daughter Ann Herrera and her husband Mario of Norwalk, CT., grandchildren Stephanie Grant (Ryan), Joseph Rubino (Laurie), Sean Rubino (Noelle Spizzirro) and Anthony Salta, great grandchildren William Grant, Christopher Grant and Alyssa-Grace Rubino, brother Frank Rubino of Florida and sister-in-law Harriet Rubino of Port Chester.
