Angelo J. Sposta went home to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of January 22, 2026 with his wife, Kathleen, by his side.
Born on September 2, 1954 to Emma (Meglio) Sposta and Andrew N. Sposta. Angelo spent the majority of his life living in and serving the Village of Port Chester, NY. He most recently lived in Cobleskill, NY for the past 11 years.
Angelo was a lifelong member of the Port Chester Fire Department, first as a member of the Fire Patrol and Rescue Co.#1 and then as a career firefighter. He was inspired to join the fire service by his uncle and mentor, Fred Sposta. As a 53 year member of the Rescue Company,
Angelo served in many roles, including Captain. Angelo was a career firefighter for 25 years, with the PCFD Local 1971, before retiring in 2014. Angelo was a mentor, a leader, and a friend to many. His dedication to the department and to the fire service as a whole has left a lasting legacy that is being carried on through his children.
Angelo had many hobbies and interests. He was a life member of the Port Chester Yacht Club and loved being out on his boat fishing or towing his kids around on tubes. He was also a member of the Antique Truck Club of America, Antique Truck Historical Society and SPAAMFAA, and loved traveling to different antique shows around the country. Collecting antique trucks and equipment was a passion that led to the naming of his mountain property as “Rusty Acres”.
Angelo is survived by his wife, Kathleen, sons, Angelo (Katelyn) and Andrew (Andrea) , daughter Moira (Rick), grandchildren, Isabella, Melanie, Tucker, Teresa, Tobias, William, Adelina, and baby Sposta (due July 2026). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and inlaws. He was predeceased by his parents, his two sisters, Margaret Dusenbury and Arduina Perrotta, and two brother-in-laws, Anthony Dusenbury and Joseph Perrotta.
A Memorial Gathering will be held from 5-8PM on Friday January 30, 2026 at Craft Memorial Home, Inc.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10AM on Saturday January 31, 2026 at Corpus Christi Church 136 South Regent St. Port Chester, NY
