Bill Melnychuk

Bill Melnychuk, 87, a resident of Rye Brook, NY died February 27, 2026 peacefully at home. He was born September 8, 1938 in Bukovena, Ukraine to the late Prokop Melnychuk and Wasylyna Melnyk  Melnychuk.  He emigrated to the USA at age 10 and educated in Yonkers, New York.

Bill was married on November 26, 1964 to Lucia Bayorek at Saint Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yonkers, NY.

He was an electrical contractor and owner of Lightening Electrical Corp & Bilmel Electrical Corp. He was a member of Local #3 in New York City.

Bill was a member of Saint Michael's Ukrainian Church in Yonkers, the Lion's Club of Hastings on Hudson and the Rye Brook Seniors.

Bill is survived by his wife Lucia Melnychuk, daughter, Sonia Melnychuk,  sons, Wasyl(Billy) Melnychuk and his wife Casandra and Andre Melnychuk and his wife Kelly, grandchildren Johnathan Yudell, Stefanie Yudell, Kimberly Yudell, Mia Melnychuk Mahoney (Joseph), Ava Melnychuk, Alexis Melnychuk, Matthew Melnychuk & Allison Melnychuk,  great granddaughter Carmella Mahoney, sister Stefania Melnychuk Zwarycz and her sons Ihor and Roman Zwarycz. sister in law Frances Melnychuk and her sons Mark & Roman.  Brother Walter’s children Paul and Rosemary Melnychuck

He was predeceased by brothers Michael, Walter, Karl and sister Catherine.

Bill was an avid skier, racquetball player, and golfer.  Everyone who knew him loved him. He will be greatly missed. 

A Memorial Gathering will be held 10:30am-12:30pm on Thursday March 5, 2026at Craft Memorial Home, Inc.  A Memorial Service will follow at 12:30pm at the funeral home.

Memorial donations in memory of Bill may be made to the Alzheimers Association and to St  Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Yonkers, NY
