Carmela Accurso, a long time resident of Rye Brook, NY, died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, July 10, 2022 at the age of 101. Carmela was born on January 6, 1921 in Cannitello, Reggio Calabria, Italy to the late Domenico and Francesca Bellantone Bevacqua. Carmela immigrated to the United States in 1948, where she married Dominick Accurso on October 3, 1948, her beloved husband for 53 years, who predeceased her in 2001.
She is survived by her son Vincent Accurso and his wife, Kathryn, of Somers, NY, her daughter Natalina Bevacqua of Brescia, Italy, whose husband, Domenico, is deceased, and her son Dominick Accurso, Jr. and his wife, Donna, of Rye Brook, NY. Also surviving are her grandchildren Dominick John, Jessica, Nicole, Chiara, Gabrielle and Dominick III, as well as her great grandchildren, Dominick and Elodie.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, July 15, 2022, at the Craft Memorial Home, 40 Leicester Street, Port Chester, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 AM on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 84 Sherwood Avenue, Greenwich, CT.
Entombment to follow at St. Mary Cemetery, 399 North Street, Greenwich, CT.
Memorial donations in memory of Mrs. Accurso may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
