Carmela Trulli, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on April 12, 2026, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 93. Born Carmela Sperano on August 19, 1932, to John and Filomena Sperano, she spent her formative years in New Rochelle, New York, where she lived never far from her four sisters and brother, and laid the foundation for a life defined by love, warmth, and an extraordinary gift for human connection.
It was in New Rochelle that Carmela fell in love with her childhood sweetheart, Vincent Trulli, whom she would go on to marry and build a life with for over fifty years. Together, they embodied the spirit of the American dream, running several small businesses including a print shop and a maternity shop - enterprises that reflected their entrepreneurial drive and deep roots in the community.
Carmela is survived by her two children: her son, Vincent Trulli Jr. and his wife Yasmin, and her daughter, Sally Lagana and her husband Dominick. She was the cherished grandmother of Tiffany Briganti (husband Vincent), Christopher DeVivo (wife Caroline), and Vanessa Fields (husband Derek). She was the adored great-grandmother of Ava, Vincent, Juliet, Ella, Amelia, and Theodore - six great-grandchildren who were fortunate enough to know her warmth firsthand.
Those who had the privilege of knowing Carmela will remember her for so many things: her sharp and ready sense of humor, her effortless ability to strike up a conversation with absolutely anyone, and above all, the genuine, wholehearted interest and care she showed every person who crossed her path. She had a rare gift - she made you feel truly seen and truly valued.
She will be deeply and dearly missed.
