Carolyn W Schmidt

Carolyn W. Schmidt a longtime resident of Port Chester, NY died April 10, 2022 at the age of 106.  She was born March 26, 1916 in Port Chester, NY to the late Frederick George Schmidt and Frieda Caroline Anna Westermayr Schmidt.  She was raised in Port Chester and graduated from Saint Margaret's High School in Waterbury, CT. She then went on to graduate from Wheelock Teachers College in Boston, MA. She received her Bachelors and Masters Degree from NYU.  Ms. Schmidt was a kindergarten teacher at Hastings Union Free School District and retired in 1978.  She was a devoted and active member of the Saint Peter's Episcopal Church in Port Chester.  Ms. Schmidt was an extensive world traveler.  She is survived by her nephews Peter Killilea and his wife Maureen of Carmel, NY., Rick Vernay and his wife Susan of Homer, NY. and John Killilea, Jr. of Oneonta, NY., nieces Margot Vernay-Sullivan and her husband Bill of San Diego, CA., Robin Vernay-Light of San Diego, CA., Kathleen Killilea-Wells of New Milford, CT. and Susan Sgaggero of Dover Plains, NY and many great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her sisters Elfrieda "Petie" Vernay and Eleanor "El" Killilea
Visitation will be 9:30AM to 10:30AM on Wednesday April 13, 2022 at Craft Memorial Home, Inc. 40 Leicester St. Port Chester, NY  Funeral Service will follow at 11AM at Christ Episcopal Church 2 Rectory St. Rye, NY
Interment Greenwood Union Church North St. Rye, NY
