Catherine (Budinoff) Hay

Catherine Hay, “Kitty” (Budinoff), 77, a longtime resident of Port Chester, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2023.  She was surrounded by her loving family.   Kitty was born on December 7, 1943. She was the daughter of the late Meyer and Catherine (Coughlin) Budinoff.  She married Michael C. Hay, Sr. on December 21, 1963.  Kitty and Michael were married for 58 years.  

Kitty was predeceased by her husband Michael and her beloved daughter, Suzanne Catherine “Suzy” (Hay) Patafio.  

For many years, Kitty was an executive assistant at General Reinsurance until her retirement. 

Kitty’s greatest role was a homemaker and caretaker to her family.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Amongst family and friends, Kitty was known for her bright, hardworking, thoughtful, and candid character.  She touched many lives with her advice, friendship, and willingness to help those in need.  

Kitty loved to vacation in Bermuda. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing, which included making dresses for her children and granddaughters. Later in her life, she was most proud of her needlepoint projects.  

Kitty is survived by her children, Michael “Mickey” Hay Jr of Port Chester, Robert “Bobby” Hay of Port Chester, and Lauren Hay of Rye Brook.  In addition to her children, she was the proud grandmother of six: Madeleine Carmen-Hay and her wife Jesse, Francesca Hay, Lily Hay, Sarah David and her husband Matt and Caroline Patafio.  She was a dedicated sister to Daniel Budinoff and his wife Kim, and niece and nephews: Alexander, Elizabeth, and William.  

Visitation will be 4-8PM on Thursday June 15, 2023 at Craft Memorial Home, Inc.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30AM on Friday June 16, 2023 at Parish of Saint John Bosco (Our Lady of Mercy) 360 Westchester Ave. Port Chester, NY. Interment will be private

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
