Dino R. Filancia, 92 of Brookfield, CT. and formerly of Port Chester, NY, died January 5, 2026. He was born January 22, 1933 in Port Chester, NY to the late Donato and Immaculata Colaluca Filancia. He was raised and educated in Port Chester graduating from Port Chester High School. At 18 years old, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served during theKorean War from 1951-1953 as a communications specialist in Greenland.
He worked in a managerial position as an electrical foreman for General Motors in Tarrytown, NY up until their announcement of closure in 1992 when he retired. Prior to that he owned a gas station in Byram; was an electrician and owned a TV repair shop in Port Chester. He was a tech guru and took pride in building his own computers. He also thoroughly enjoyed growing his own vegetables and always had a thriving garden.
Dino married Mary Doenges-McCarney on April 20, 1991 at Holy Rosary Church in Hawthorne, NY.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Filancia, of Brookfield, CT, 2 stepdaughters Maureen McCarney of New Fairfield, CT, and Eileen DeMayo of Mahopac, NY, 1 stepson Patrick McCarney (Karen) of New Fairfield, CT; 6 grandchildren: Caitlin Glenn (Joe), Amanda McCarney, Colin McCarney, Marissa McCarney, Sophia DeMayo and Richie DeMayo; his beloved niece: Angela Bunny Esposito; beloved nephews, Stephen Dino Esposito (Tracey) and Robert John; and devoted nephews Thomas Onofrio (Mary Ellen) and Vincent Racaniello (Sarah). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn Panteli; 2 brothers, Samuel and Anthony Onofrio; 3 sisters: Florence Baratta, Louise Lonzo and Diana John; a grandson Brett McCarney; 3 beloved nephews, Angelo John, Jr., Stephen Esposito and Rudy Brouwer.
Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday January 11, 2026 at Craft Memorial Home, Inc. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. on Monday January 12, 2026 at the Church of the Resurrection, Boston Post Rd. Rye, NY.
Entombment to follow at Saint Mary's Cemetery Rye Brook, NY. Donations may be made to the Veterans Association in Dino’s memory.
