On January 12, 2020, Dr. Joseph A. Camillo, DDS, 81, resident of Rye Brook, NY passed away after his battle with cancer. He was born October 23, 1938 in Port Chester to Jean Carlucci Camillo and the late Anthony Camillo. He was raised in Port Chester, NY graduating in 1956 from Archbishop Stepinac High School, White Plains, NY., later graduating from Saint Bonaventure University, Olean, NY in 1960. Dr. Camillo then received his degree in dentistry from Seton Hall University School of Dentistry in 1963. He served as a commissioned officer from the medical field service school, United States Army during the Vietnam War with a ranking of Captain. Dr. Camillo was in private practice in Rye Brook for 46 years and was on the staff of Westchester Medical Center and retired from dentistry in 2008. He was a parishioner of the St. Paul RC Church in Greenwich, Ct. where he served as an usher. Dr. Camillo also served with the Rye Brook Recreation Commission for many years. Dr. Camillo was an avid golfer, ranking as a top amateur player in his late teens and early twenties. In his later years he was a member of the Belfair and Doral Country Clubs. Dr. Camillo is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years Shirley S. Camillo of Rye Brook, NY., sons Dr. Anthony J. Camillo and his wife Sharon of Ridgefield, CT., Dr. Francis X. Camillo and his wife Paula of Germantown, TN., and Joseph A. Camillo, Jr., Esq. and his wife Holly of Middleborough, MA., mother Jean Camillo of Port Chester, NY., grandchildren Isabelle Camillo, Anthony Camillo, Joseph Camillo and Paul Camillo. Besides his father, he was predeceased by his sister Anne-Racine MacDonald. Visitation will be 4-8 PM on Friday January 17, 2020 at Craft Memorial Home, Inc. 40 Leicester St. Port Chester, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Saturday January 18, 2020 at Saint Paul RC Church 84 Sherwood Ave. Greenwich, CT. Interment will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery Arlington, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, The Wounded Warrior Project or the American Cancer Society.
