Edgar L. Vitti, age 93, entered into eternal rest on July 25, 2022. A lifelong resident of Port Chester,
Edgar was born on May 12, 1929 to Anthony Vitti and Elizabeth Tamburri Vitti. After graduating from
Port Chester High School in 1947, Edgar, like many young men his age, enlisted in the U.S. Army, from
which he was honorably discharged in 1951. On June 20, 1953, he married his beloved wife Catherine
Versace Vitti, who preceded him in death, in 2018. Edgar was an electrician by trade, and was a member of the I.B.E.W. For most of his career hHe was employed by Brooksville Electric which he helped to build with his brother Joe,, retiring at 62, and enjoying a long, leisurely retirement which he spent surrounded by his loving family, and his caring friends and neighbors. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and he was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Church. Edgar enthusiastically followed sports like boxing, football, and, especially baseball, rooting every season for the NY Mets. He was also a lover of music and appreciated listening to opera, as well as to the music of Frank Sinatra. He loved dinners out on the weekend, and enjoyed taking trips to the area casinos. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his five siblings Louise Colletti, Joseph D. Vitti, Jennie Pierro, Ada Giordano, and Gerard Vitti. He is survived by his four children Robert Vitti (Alla), of Old Tappan, NJ; Elizabeth Vitti, of Danbury, CT; Lisa Salcuni (Paul) of Brookfield, CT; and Suzanne Vitti (Timothy Lynch) of Eastchester,NY; five grandchildren, Erica Salcuni, Paul Michael Salcuni, Nicole Salcuni, Juliana Vitti, and Brandon Vitti; and many loving nieces and nephews. For the last four years, he was cared for by his kind and compassionate home health aide Luara, with whom he formed a strong bond. Dad, we will miss you every day for the rest of our lives. Rest in peace.
