Eugenio Balboa

Eugenio Balboa, 91, a resident of Port Chester, NY died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on April 7, 2024 on Divine Mercy Sunday.  He was born on June 6, 1932 in Samieira, Pontevedra, Spain to the late Eugenio Balboa Meis and Albina Treinta Doeste. He was one of four children. He was raised and educated in Pontevedra and served in the Spanish Navy. 
Eugenio married Carmen Vicente Muñiz on February 1, 1964 in Combarro, Pontevedra, Spain. They were married for 60 years. He immigrated to the United States in 1970; his wife and two children joined him in 1972. They lived and raised their children in White Plains until 1986 when they settled in Port Chester, NY.  He worked for Balport Construction Co. in Elmsford, NY for 24 years, retiring in 1994.
Eugenio was a proud and avid gardener and loved the spring when he could start his vegetable and tomato garden and lovingly care for his flourishing plantings and those of his children. Eugenio and Maria Isabel were given an award from Greenwich Green and Clean for her flower garden which he planted and cared for. He was an enthusiastic fan of the Spanish soccer teams Real Madrid, Celta de Vigo and Pontevedra.
A devout Catholic, Eugenio was a daily communicant at St. John Bosco Parish and lived his faith in word and by quiet example. He loved the beach and most of all spending time with his five adoring grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all.
Eugenio is survived by his devoted wife, Carmen Balboa; his beloved children, Maria Isabel Gil and her husband, Jose of Cos Cob, CT; Gene Balboa, MD and his wife, Diane of Armonk, NY; sister, Albina Balboa Treinta of Spain; grandchildren, Michael, Daniel and Steven Gil; Genevieve and Philip Balboa; great-grandchildren, Andrea and Damian Gil and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sisters Laura and Genoveva and nieces Berta and Geni.
Visitation will be 4-8PM on Wednesday April 10, 2024 at Craft Memorial Home, Inc.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30AM on Thursday April 11, 2024 at Parish of Saint John Bosco (Our Lady of Mercy) 260 Westchester Ave. Port Chester, NY. Entombment to follow at Saint Mary's Cemetery Rye Brook, NY
