Francis Anthony Avolio, 93, died on January 11, 2021 at home in Valhalla, New York. Francis was born August 26, 1927 in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from Boys High School in Brooklyn in 1946, where he was a skilled baseball player, and he served his country in the U.S. Army post WWII in Germany where he acted as an investigator. Upon completion of his service, he began a career in banking that culminated in his working as an examiner for the New York State Banking Department. In retirement, Francis enjoyed golfing, watching sports, visiting and talking with his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, who were all the light of his life. Francis resided in West Hempstead, New York from 1958 to 2020 and was a parishioner at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
He is survived by sons Frederick (Lisa) Avolio and Charles (Denise) Avolio, and daughter Phyllis (Jeffrey) Avolio Behrer, and by 8 granddaughters and 6 grandsons Michael Avolio, Lori (Jayson) Avolio Miller, Laura (Travis Friedrich) Behrer, Christine Avolio, Andrea (Cory) Behrer Sheridan, Anthony Avolio, Joseph (Kelly) Avolio, Michelle (Stefan) Behrer Harris, Katherine Avolio, Madeline Avolio, Dana Avolio, John Avolio, Thomas Avolio and Robert Avolio.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Domenica Mae (Lagana), his father, Ferdinando “Fred” Avolio, his mother, Maddalena “Madeline” (Cirillo) Avolio, and his brother, Anthony Francis Avolio.
Funeral Services will be private.
