Frederick Richard Burpo, formerly of Port Chester, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2026 in The Villages, FL at the age of 77.
He was born on August 17, 1948, in Yonkers, New York, to Lula Martha (Pierce) Burpo and Frederick R. Burpo. He graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1968 and admirably joined the United States Army in 1968, bravely serving during the Vietnam War. At just 14 years old, he met Carole Francis Valenti and knew she was the one he would someday marry. On May 4, 1975, they were married at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Port Chester, New York.
He built a life through hard work, dedication, and entrepreneurship. He proudly owned and operated his own Mac Tool truck business, ran a limousine business, worked in printing at Mini Grip and Flagship. He was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and the relationships he built with coworkers, customers, and friends throughout his career.
He is survived by his son James Burpo and his wife Tanya and their son Bryson of Gloucester, VA; a daughter Francine (Burpo) Kelson and her husband Andrew and their three sons, Drew, Bennett and Dylan of New Market, MD, sisters Brenda Josephson and Denise Burpo, Aunt Thelma DeMaio and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 43 years, Carole, his brother Thomas Burpo, sister Valerie Simmons, Uncle James DeMaio and his parents. He cherished spending time with his family and friends and loved sharing stories with those around him.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, listening to music, and dancing, and found great joy in cooking and feeding everyone, especially with his famous barbecue ribs. He was a friend to all and could light up any room with his infectious laugh and bright smile. Nothing brought him greater happiness than spending time with his grandchildren. Known as the life of the party wherever he went, he loved reminiscing about the adventures of his youth with his lifelong friends.
