Jean (Pennella) Florio

Jean Pennella Florio, 99, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2022 at the Advent Health Care
Center Waterman in Tavares, FL. She was a recent resident of The Villages, FL, having lived most
of her married life in Port Chester and Rye Brook, NY. She was born in Greenwich, CT on November 21, 1922 to the late Rocco and Gertrude (Powell) Pennella and attended Greenwich public schools. Prior to her marriage, she was employed by the Lifesavers Company in Port Chester, NY and the Barbizon Modeling Agency in New York City. After her marriage, she was a homemaker and active volunteer at the Academy of Our Lady of Good Counsel in White Plains, NY, the United Hospital in Port Chester, NY, and the Greenwich (CT) Hospital. Mrs. Florio was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Alfred Carl Florio. She is survived by daughters Nancy (James) Focht of Dagsboro, DE and Rosemary Padin of The Villages, FL;
grandsons Matthew (Julie) Focht, Mark Focht, and Gregory Padin; and great-grandchildren Jantzen, Griffin, Tyler and Emerson Focht; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brother, William Pennella and four sisters, Tina Lavery, Mary Keller, Catherine Greto, and Angie Coppola.
Mrs. Florio was a person of faith who prayed the Rosary daily. She always had an open door, offering hospitality to all who came to her home. She especially enjoyed good times and good food with family and friends. She will be remembered as a woman with great style and strong opinions who loved to be surrounded by her circle of extended family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Parish of Saint John Bosco (Corpus Christi Church), 136 South Regent Street, Port Chester, NY on Monday, June 20, 2022 at 10:00 am with interment immediately following at Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Rye Brook, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made in Mrs. Florio’s name to the Don Bosco Community Center Food Program, 22 Don Bosco Place, Port Chester, NY 10573 or The Vitas Care Connection, 6909 Old Highway 441, Suite 105, Mt. Dora, FL 32757 - the organization that provided Mrs. Florio with wonderful care in her last days.
