Jennie Prescott Obituary

Jennie Mary Prescott, 97, went to her heavenly home, on September 12, 2020 after a long and rewarding life.
Born in Peekskill, New York on September 4, 1923, she was the daughter of Antonio Aloisio and Carmella Matolla, first generation American immigrants from Italy. During WWII she worked as a seamstress in a factory in Port Chester, New York. There Jennie met Howard Prescott while enjoying their mutual passion for roller-skating, and they were married on August 22, 1948 making their home in Port Chester where Jennie lived for over 70 years until her passing.
Together Jennie and Howard raised two daughters, Diane and Deborah. Jennie was an active participant in their childhood years, serving as a leader in their school programs and girl scouts, and encouraging them in their interests in dancing and music. Jennie was a longtime member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Port Chester, serving in the Mothers Club and as a Sunday School teacher.
In mid-life Jenny returned to her own education, receiving her high school Regents Diploma and graduating from nursing school at Grasslands Medical school. She worked as an LPN at United Hospital in Port Chester and Westchester County Medical Center in Valhalla for many years, only retiring at the age of 69. In retirement she enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was always an active participant in their lives.
Jennie is predeceased by her parents, her sister Rose Amato, brother John Aloisio, and her husband Howard in 2013 after 65 years of marriage. She is survived by her daughters Diane (James) Richmond of Ballston Spa New York, and Deborah Prescott who devoted herself to her mother’s care in her battle against dementia in her last years. Also remaining to share memories of their Nana are grandchildren Jason, Carrie and Brian (Jessica) Richmond, Thomas (Julie) Mullan, Christina (Jack) Palazzo, Michelle (Luis) Velazquez, and Jenn (Peter Repole) Croteau and 12 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Westchester.   Visiting hours will be held at Craft Memorial Home, Port Chester, beginning at 10:30 AM on Saturday, September 19. A Memorial service at 12:30 PM will be officiated by Pastor Julio Ramos. Interment will follow at Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla, NY.
