John V. Flanagan, Sr., 90, a lifelong resident of Port Chester passed away March 5, 2019. He was born January 16, 1929 to the late Terrence and Anne O'Shea Flanagan. He was raised and educated in Greenwich, CT. Mr. Flanagan served in the United States Army in Korea during combat. He was a tank commander. He was married November 10, 1956 to Barbara McAleer at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Port Chester. Mr. Flanagan was a bus driver for County Transportation and was a cement truck driver for Byram Concrete. He was a chauffeur for 32 years for the Hellman Family in Rye, NY. He retired in 1990. Mr. Flanagan was a devoted parishioner of the Our Lady of Mercy Church in Port Chester. He was a lifetime member of the Port Chester Post #93 of the American Legion, Port Chester Old Timers Association, Westchester Antique Car Club and the Model A Ford Club of America. He is survived by his beloved wife Barbara Flanagan of Port Chester, his devoted son John Flanagan and his wife Trish of New Rochelle, NY., cherished grandchildren Morgan and Shane Flanagan, sister Mary Staff of Carabelle, Fl. He was predeceased by his brother Patrick Flanagan and sister Ann Vaughn. Visitation will be 4-8PM on Friday March 8, 2019 at Craft Memorial Home, Inc. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:15AM on Saturday March 9, 2019 at St. Paul's RC Church 84 Sherwood Ave. Greenwich, CT. Interment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery Rye Brook, NY.
