John (Jack) James Riley, Jr., 99, a resident of Rye Brook, NY died peacefully at home on June 25, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 9, 1921 in Roxbury, MA to the late John James Riley, Sr. and Julia Murtha Riley. He graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point NY in 1944. He went on to serve in the United States Navy from June 5, 1944 to July 10, 1946 as a Lt. Commander. Jack was a sales engineer for Byron Jackson Pumps in New York, NY. He was the widower of Julia Rutledge and Joan Dillion Reed. Jack was a devoted parishioner of the Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church in Greenwich, CT. He was also a 15 year volunteer at Greenwich Hospital, a Meals on Wheels volunteer and a member of the Retired Men's Club of Greenwich. He was an avid golfer and model train enthusiast. Jack will always be remembered for his model railroad and his incredible sense of humor and his storytelling. Jack is survived by his beloved children Susan Westrell and John James Riley, III (Janet), stepdaughters Carol Naill (Roger) and Barbara Mason (Paul), stepson Stephen Reed (Gloria), grandchildren Kimberly Coelho, Michael Coelho, Karin Westrell, Christopher Westrell, Patrick Riley, great grandchildren Brittanie Etienne, Brianna Etienne, Mateo Coelho, step grandchildren Brian Reed (Sue Saas), Christopher Reed (Mary), Sara Sullivan (Andrew), Megan Kinsella (Ed) and step great grandchildren William, John, Thomas, Matthew and Anna Sullivan, Katie, Clare, Paul, Christopher, Molly, Moira and Brian Kinsella, Robinson and Kelly Reed and Elinore Reed. Besides his wives, he was predeceased by his daughter, Judy Coelho and sister, Mary Riley.
Visitation will be 4-8PM on Thursday July 8, 2021 at Craft Memorial Home, Inc. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10AM on Friday July 9, 2021 (Jack’s 100th birthday) at the Saint Paul RC Church, 84 Sherwood Ave. Greenwich, CT. A committal service will be held at 1:00PM on Thursday July 15, 2021 at Saint Mary's Cemetery, North St., Greenwich, CT.
