Joseph Ianello, Sr., 94, a lifelong resident of Port Chester died April 16, 2022. He was born February 14, 1928 in Port Chester to the late Angelo and Catherine Carlucci
Ianello. He was raised and educated in Port Chester graduating from Port Chester High School in 1946. Mr. Ianello served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was married on August 27, 1950 to Rita DeGiacomo in Port Chester. Mrs. Ianello died November 22, 2011. Joseph was an operating engineer with Local 137 with the International Union of Operating Engineers in Briarcliff Manor, NY. He retired in 1990. He was a lifelong parishioner of the Holy Rosary Church in Port Chester, a member of the Anselmo Club and was active with his high school reunion committees. When his three sons were younger, he was active with the Port Chester Little League and the Boy Scouts. He was an avid sports fan; a diehard follower of the NY Yankees and NY Giants. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was passionate and proud of his family; one of his favorite activities was spending time with his family. Mr. Ianello is survived by his sons Joseph Ianello, Jr., MD and his wife Ava Pannullo, MD of Suffield, CT.; Robert Ianello and his wife Denise of Lawrence KS.; grandchildren Catherine Ianello-Drapala and her husband Matthew, Thomas Ianello, Zachary Ianello, Ashley Ianello and Courtney Ianello. Along with his wife, Rita, he was predeceased by his son Stephen Ianello, Esq. on June 8, 2020 and his brothers and sisters John, Daniel, Frank and Dominick Ianello, sisters Lucy Vaccaro, Angelina Sandarciero and Marguerite Ianello.
Visitation will be 4-8PM on Friday April 22, 2022 at Craft Memorial Home, Inc. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10AM on Saturday at Parish of Saint John Bosco (Our Lady of Mercy) 260 Westchester Ave. Port Chester, NY. Interment to follow at Saint Mary's Cemetery Rye Brook, NY.
