Louise M. (Radice) Urbanowski, 95, of Rye Brook, New York, died peacefully at Greenwich Hospital on January 8, 2022. Born to the late Leonardo and Jennie (Carlucci) Radice on February 20, 1926, Louise was raised and educated in Port Chester, graduating from Port Chester High School in 1944. On August 24, 1947, Louise married Peter Urbanowski at Holy Rosary Church. He predeceased her in 1972.
As a young mother, she served as President of the Horton School P.T.A. and served as chairperson of the Mothers March of Dimes. Throughout her life, she balanced career and motherhood, working as an executive and legal secretary before retiring at the age of 85. In her retirement years, she enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, writing poems for every occasion, and watching her favorite teams, the New York Yankees and UCONN basketball.
In addition to her parents and husband, Louise was predeceased by her brothers Sebastian, Frank, Anthony, and William Radice.
Louise is survived by her daughters, Ann Wilson of South Orange, NJ, and Joanne DeSimone (Robert) of Norwalk, CT; grandchildren Anika Wilson (Edward Green), Alana Briggs (Shannon), Devin Riley, Peter DeSimone, Robert DeSimone Jr. (Bai), and Jeffrey DeSimone (Kory Tobias); and great grandchildren, Chan, Caden, Chloe, Parker, Luke, and Alia. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Marilyn Radice, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Louise once lovingly wrote: “I have family; I am rich!” which perfectly encapsulated her beautiful outlook on life. She enjoyed vacationing with her family, the many holiday gatherings, and the annual Radice Family Reunion.
The family would like to offer special thanks to staff members at both Greenwich Hospital and Notre Dame Convalescent Home, as well as Dr. Alex Delvecchio.
There are no calling hours and interment is private. A celebratory mass to honor Louise’s life will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Notre Dame Convalescent Home at 76 West Rocks Rd, Norwalk, CT 06851; Ronald McDonald House Charities; St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; or a charity of your choice.
