Luigi (Lu) DeGregorio (1950-2024) was born in Port Chester, New York, and passed away at his home in Fredericksburg, Virginia, on February 6, 2024, after a valiant battle with cancer. He is survived by wife, Judy Rubinstein, who has been his strong and passionate caregiver for the past three years and survived by three sisters and one brother as well as two nieces and one great nephew. Lu was preceded in death by his mother and father. Lu and Judy were Raton residents for about 13 years where he was an excellent Mental Health Counselor. Judy was an active member in the MCMC Auxiliary. Lu served in the Air Force for two years, after which he attended the University of New Mexico and received a Master’s Degree in Mental Health and Substance Abuse.
Lu had a passion for cooking, working with his clients and always demonstrated a great love for animals and toddlers. He was a great mentor to many clients in Fredericksburg, and he continued to counsel his New Mexico clients after his move to Fredericksburg.
A memorial gathering for Lu will be held 10AM-2PM on Saturday March 30, 2024 at Craft Memorial Home, Inc. Port Chester, NY.
Anyone wishing to do so may donate to the American Lung Cancer Association in
