Maria Esther Cosse Giannios, passed away with grace in the early morning of Tuesday, June 27th 2023 at the age of 75 after a courageous battle with colon cancer. She was born on July 6th, 1947 in beautiful Las Piedras, Uruguay and came to the United States in her early 20s. She met her beloved husband Eleftherios Giannios of Thessaloniki, Greece and started a wonderful family in Port Chester, NY. She was a loving wife, caring mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Maria took great pride in everything she did. Throughout her life she always made it a point to be very involved in her children's lives, especially when it came to school. Her 3 sons were always very active in the Port Chester School District, whether it be playing football, traveling with the Marching Band or staying late for concerts, musicals, and after school programs. She was always within arms reach. She would pack sewing kits for the Color Guard while attending competitions for any last minute incidentals. She established herself as an anchor and a rock that you can always depend on to all that knew her.
She was forever proud of her children and grandchildren and their accomplishments. She would often boast with conversations and pictures to whoever would listen. She was devoted to implementing traditions to her family and eager to see them carried on from generation to generation. She lived life her way, filled with generosity, kindness, grace, and love.
She is survived by her sister Martha Petraglia, husband Eleftherios Giannios, her children Emmanuel Giannios and his best friend Angelina Cardona, Christopher Giannios and wife Dana Giannios and their 2 children Nikolaos and Evander Giannios, Georgios Giannios and wife Elizabeth Giannios and soon to arrive Anthony Giannios.
Words cannot express our gratitude to all who loved and cared for Maria Giannios. She has taught us all how to live a life of purpose and joy.
A service in celebration of her life will be held from 4-8PM on Friday June 30, 2023 at the Craft Memorial Home, Inc. Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 AM on Saturday, July 1st 2023 at Parish of St. John Bosco at Our Lady of Mercy on 260 Westchester Avenue, Port Chester NY 10573. Interment is private.
