Maria Maldonado Obituary

The family has requested that guests honor Maria’s joyful spirit by wearing festive, colorful clothing to the service. She loved brightness, warmth, and celebration, and we hope to reflect those elements of her life as we gather in Maria’s memory.
Maria Maldonado, 80, a longtime resident of Port Chester, NY passed away peacefully on Monday, April 28, 2025 surrounded by God’s presence. She was born on July 24, 1944 in Cuba to the late Justo and Maria Naranjo Fernandez.  Maria was raised and educated in Cuba and immigrated to the United States in 1967 and settled in Port Chester in 1970.
Maria was known for her sweetness and strength. She devoted her life to family and faith. Maria was a source of comfort, wisdom and unconditional love to everyone who knew her.

Maria was a supervisor at the gift shop at White Plains Hospital. She was a parishioner of the Parish of Saint John Bosco in Port Chester. 
She is survived by her beloved daughters, Maria Bury and her husband Bradford of Ocean Grove, NJ., and Maricela Sanchez and her husband John of Yorktown Heights, NY., her beloved grandchildren, Antonio Sanchez and his wife Stefania, Ashley Sanchez, Michael Bury and Alexandra Bury. She is also survived by her loving sister, Blanca Merchan of Boca Raton, Florida.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Epic Rehab in White Plains, NY for their outstanding care, and to her dear roommate Cheryl for her loving presence. As Maria often said, she was surrounded by angels.
A celebration of life will be held from 2:00-6:00 PM on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at Craft Memorial Home, Port Chester, NY. The funeral service will be at 5:30 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to the Salvation Army Port Chester Community Center, 36 Bush Avenue, Port Chester, NY 10573.
As a wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and cherished friend, Maria’s legacy of kindness and love eternally remains in those lives she touched and to whom she gave so freely.
