Mario R. Provenzano

Rye Brook, NY./Naples, FL. – Mario R. Provenzano, 94, passed away with his wife by his side on April 2, 2020. He was born on September 12, 1925 in San Fili, Cosenza, Italy to the late Antonio Provenzano and Teresina Gentile Provenzano.

He was raised and educated in Italy. He graduated from Surveyors School and worked as a Land Surveyor before immigrating to the United States in 1947. He obtained a BS in Electrical Engineering while attending night classes, and also learning English, at the Bridgeport Engineering Institute in 1958, which is now a part of Fairfield University. He worked for many years at UOP Oil Products in Darien, CT and Tapparouge Inc. in Mineola, NY. He retired in 1990.

He married Olga Zuccarelli in his home town of San Fili in 1961. He was a communicant of Corpus Christi Church. In addition to spending time with his family and grandchildren, he enjoyed his winters in Naples, FL with all of the “paesani”, his garden, and attending San Fili Club of Westchester Inc. meetings and events. He also enjoyed Italian arts, literature, and history.

Mario was a gentleman who deeply valued family, tradition, and education. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Olga Provenzano, his beloved children Anthony M. Provenzano and his wife Anna of Rye Brook, NY, Enrico Provenzano and his wife Karen of Port Chester, NY, and his grandchildren whom he absolutely cherished Nicole, Anthony Jr., Jenna, and Karah. He is also survived by his brother Lloyd of Naples, FL, and his many cousins, nephews, and nieces in the United States, Italy, and Canada. He is predeceased by his brother Frank.

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic all funeral services are private. A memorial mass will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
