Mary Galasso, a long-term resident of Rye Brook, NY, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2022 at the age of 97. She was born in the Bronx to the late Francesco and Francesca Cugno, and was raised in Port Chester, NY along with her seven siblings. Mary was married on May 19, 1946 at Holy Rosary Church in Port Chester to Michael A. Galasso, who died in February of 2000. Mary was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a natural homemaker and nurturer- everyone was welcomed in her home. She loved to spend time with friends and family, as she hosted many celebrations and holidays throughout the years. Mary had a passion for bringing her loved ones together and cooking for them. Some of her ‘famous’ dishes included lasagna and manicotti. In her spare time, she loved to crochet, play cards, and read. Mary had a very generous and loving spirit, and was cherished by those around her. She will be greatly missed. Mrs. Galasso is survived by her three children: Michele Irvine of Rye Brook, NY, Frank Galasso and his wife Anna of Sherman, CT, and Louis Galasso of Ridgefield, CT. She is also survived by her grandchildren: James and Stephanie Irvine; Dean Galasso; Louis Galasso, Jr. and his wife Brooke, Sharlene Burgess and her husband Clayton, and Grant Galasso. She also had three great grandchildren: Zachary Galasso; Thomas and Olivia Burgess. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her brothers: Joseph and Sam Cugno; and her sisters: Melina Melillo, Nancy Ciotola, Ann Hill, Jenny Cecio, and Rose Mirizio; and her grandson: Michael S. Galasso.
