Mary A. Monahan, 91, a resident of Rye Brook and formerly of Yonkers, died May 3, 2020. She was born March 24, 1929 in the Bronx to the late John and Maura Curran Galligan. Mary was raised on St. Ann's Avenue in the South Bronx and graduated from St. Pius High School in 1947. Mary married Gerard J. Monahan, also of the Bronx, on August 22, 1948. They were married for over 53 years when Jerry (Gus) passed away in April of 2002. Mary was a retired administrative assistant for the New York State Organized Crime Task Force in White Plains. Mary was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother and is survived by her children Dennis Monahan and wife Mary of Henderson, NV, Gary Monahan and wife Mercedes of W. Melbourne, FL and Diana Sury and husband Brian of Rye Brook, NY, grandchildren Sean Monahan, Mary Monahan, Daniel Sury and Kristin Sury and her brand new great grandson Paul H. Hill, IV. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her brothers John Jr. (Jack) the first child of John and Maura Galligan, who died at two years old, James, Gerard (Buddy) and Edward Galligan and sisters Margaret Cregan and Kathleen Flynn. She will also be missed by her many loving nieces and nephews. Mary was extremely proud of her Irish heritage. Due to the current Pandemic, all funeral services will be private. A memorial mass will be announced at a later date.
