Maureen Dougherty, 81, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2021 after a brief illness.
She was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Edward McDermott, and her brother John McDermott.
She is survived by her sister Sharon Varbero of Rye Brook, NY and her four sons — Shawn (Christine) of Naples, FL; Kenn (Pam) of Menifee, CA; Terry of Greeley, CO and Brian of Stamford, CT.
She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren — Colleen, Meghean, Mary, Thomas, Ashley, Michelle, Crystal, Nikisha, Lauren, Katherine, Brian Jr. And Brandon; 2 nieces; 4 grandnieces; 1 grandnephew, and several great grandchildren and great-great grandnieces.
Those close to her knew that she had an undying love for her pet cats — Maggie and Gracie — and that she loved doing difficult crossword puzzles.
Born in Port Chester, NY, Maureen graduated from the Academy of the Resurrection school in Rye, NY. She lived in Norwalk, CT and Greenwich, CT before moving to Stamford, CT in 1982.
She was employed by Fawcett Publications / CBS Publications / Hachette Filipacchi Media U.S. in Greenwich for almost 50 years. She also worked for the Rye City School District for several years before fully retiring.
A Memorial Gathering will be held 11AM-1PM on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at Craft Memorial Home, Inc.
A private burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Rye Brook, NY.
