Max M. Charleswell, Sr., 96, a longtime resident of Rye Brook, NY., died June 3, 2024, at home surrounded by his family. He was born March 26, 1928, in Saint Thomas, United States Virgin Islands to the late Milford and Mabel Ianthe Wells Charleswell. He was raised and educated in Saint Thomas. Mr. Charleswell served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955 after which he moved to New York.
For many years he worked for Axelrod Associates in New York City as an advertising agent. He then worked for Bruno Scheidt Company, an import and export company as an associate.
Mr. Charleswell was married July 28, 1979, to Anita Sewer at Saint Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rye Brook, New York which he was a devoted member of. He was also a member of the Rye Brook Senior Citizens Center.
Mr. Charleswell is survived by his devoted wife Anita Charleswell, his beloved children Eliza Scatliffe, Max M. Charleswell, Jr. and his partner Rita O'neal-Jones, Lisa R. Diaz and her husband Mario F. Diaz, Eric E. Charleswell and his wife Sherry Charleswell. His children in love Russell Fulmore and his husband Victor Fulmore, Terina Armstrong and her husband Ronald Armstrong, grandchildren, LeRoy Scatliffe, Lenore Scatliffe, Jessica R. Aponte, Ashley V. Diaz and Eric E. Charleswell, II, Kaitlyn Armstrong, great grandchildren Mason Aponte, Peyton Aponte, Cameron Aponte, Lennon Aponte, Nahjai Scatliffe, Maikai Scatliffe.
Visitation will be 4-7PM on Monday June 10, 2024, at Craft Memorial Home, Inc. Funeral Service will be 11AM on Tuesday June 11, 2024, at Saint Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church 761 King St. Rye Brook, NY 10573. Interment to follow at Greenwood Union Cemetery Rye, NY.
Memorial donations in memory of Mr. Charleswell may be made to Saint Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
