Mel Powers was an accomplished athlete and businessman. At Syracuse University, he was a Division 1 Wrestler, a Nationally ranked amateur tennis player and often a Club Champion in New York and Connecticut for over 3 decades.
The Powers Construction Company was a pillar in the development and construction industry in Danbury, Ct. for over 50 years.
Mel was instrumental in bringing many of the Fortune 500 Companies to Danbury. He was a generous man, a faithful friend and loved and helped many of his tenants.
He was a devoted husband to his wife of 41 years, Mary, her daughter Erika, her husband Wayne and their children, Luke, Charlotte and Wyatt. He is also survived by his sister Garry, her husband Michael their children Holly, Alicia and grandson Mason, as well as his daughters, Melissa, Lauren and their children, Ben, Noah and Talia.
A private family service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tunnels to Towers Foundation or to the Saint Jude's Children's Research Hospital
