Norman Antonio Oyarvide Murillo was born on June 4, 1931, in Guayaquil, Ecuador.
His father was Aurelio Oyarvide and his mother was Amada Murillo Pontón. Norman was the third of five children. His siblings were: Otto, Walter, and Rodolfo, all who passed away before Norman, and his younger brother, Henry, who lives in Ecuador. Norman graduated as a certified public accountant and then married Mercedes Hojas Cabrera on December 28, 1957; they had six children: Jacqueline, Antonio (who passed away in 2000), Paul, Irwing, Fabricio, and Kathy.
In 1966, Norman came to the United States and lived in towns such as Port Chester, Jersey, and his loving city, Manhattan. He worked hard in the textile industry and became a citizen of this country when President Ronald Reagan offered amnesty. Little by little, his wife, children, and grandchildren joined him in this country. Norman was an avid reader, always reading literary novels and carrying the daily newspaper with him everywhere he went to stay up to date on all the news. Norman was also a lover of Argentine tango and singers like Carlos Gardel,
and he made frequent trips to Ecuador.
He was a great basketball and soccer player in the Liga Deportiva Estudiantil, where he was one of the pioneers of the famous sports club in Guayaquil, but without a doubt, he shone brightly playing ping pong, where he was a champion.
Norman is survived by five of his children, thirteen grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren, as well as his two sons-in-law, who cared for him at all times and loved him.
Norman will be fondly remembered and will live on forever in our hearts.
