On February 4th, 2022, Palma Sciarretta went to live with the angels after a brief illness in Hollywood, Florida. She was 85 years old. She was greeted in Heaven by her loving mother, Angelina, and father, Donato. Known to many as Pam, she was the proud mother of two, grandmother of six, and great-grandmother of five. Her family was the joy of her life, evidenced by the countless framed pictures surrounding her in every room of her home. Born in Harrison, NY, she was the youngest of four children. When the family moved back to Italy, Palma and her siblings experienced the Nazi presence during World War II. As a young girl, she was tasked with providing meals for the family, where she honed her skills as an amazing cook. When she moved back to the United States, she found her trade as a lifelong cosmetologist and spent many years helping everyone around her and caring for her clients in Hallandale, Florida.
Palma dedicated her life to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary. She was a dedicated member of the Little Flower Catholic Church for over 40 years. Described as a mother to the priests of the church, Palma spent her years teaching the catechism to after school children for first communion studies, preparing the altar linens, unlocking the church each morning for worshippers, and managing the church’s gift shop. She spent her days in prayer at daily mass and with weekly meetings for Legion of Mary. She lived true to being a “fisher of men,” encouraging friends and strangers to celebrate God’s gift in prayer.
Her greatest joys in life were her family and God, and we find comfort knowing that she is watching us from Heaven.
She is survived by her loving children, Anna Maria Kinberg and Jason Sciarretta (Mary K.); sister Mary Sellas and brother Orazio “Ray” Sciavillo (Theresa); grandchildren Jennifer Leahy, Jaclyn Condra (Paul), Jeffrey Kinberg (Stephanie), Luca Sciarretta, Leo Sciarretta, and Nicolò Sciarretta; and great-grandchildren Declan Leahy, Emerson Leahy, Noelle Condra, Landon Condra, and Brady Kinberg.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Vito Sciavillo, and her brother-in-law Dennis Sellas.
