Peter T. Chute, 71, a lifelong resident of Port Chester, passed on April 7, 2021.
He was born August 1, 1949 in Port Chester to Vincent and Barbara Urban Chute who predeceased him, and was raised and educated in Port Chester.
Mr. Chute served Port Chester and its surrounding communities in many ways. He spent his professional career working in the water utility companies that serviced Port Chester, Rye, Rye Brook, and Greenwich, CT during his 32-year tenure starting in 1972, until his retirement in 2004. He was a proud volunteer firefighter and member of the Port Chester Fire Department for 52 years. As a second-generation member of the Fire Patrol and Rescue Co. #1, he loved everything the firehouse brotherhood represents and the bonds of deep friendships. He joined Fire Patrol & Rescue Co. #1 in 1969, recognized as New York State Firefighter of the Year in 1974, along with a Chief’s Citation, for life-saving actions taken during that year, and he rose through the ranks to serve as Captain of the company from 1975 to 1976. He held every firematic and parliamentary rank throughout his years in the company.
Rescue 40 was his home away from home and his dedication was recognized in celebration of his 50 years of service in 2019.
Mr. Chute’s legacy lives on in Port Chester as he is survived by his wife of 48 years, Susan (Mar) Chute and their two daughters, Susan (husband Michael Marino) and Karen (husband Jeremy Brown), and his beloved four grandchildren: Marisa and Kayla Marino, and Nolan and Logan Brown.
He also leaves behind sisters Barbara Powers of Whitefish, Montana, twin sister Patricia Lalli of White Plains, New York, and Nancy Reynolds of Levittown, Pennsylvania. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Susan Mary Chute. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
