Pietro Pennella Obituary

Pietro Michelangelo Pennella, 74, passed away on March 26, 2026.

Born on January 6, 1952, in Morra De Sanctis, Italy, Pietro was a man defined by hard work, determination, and deep devotion to his family. At just 16 years old, he left his hometown to work in Switzerland, beginning a life marked by courage and ambition. In 1971, he came to America with the help of his uncle, Frank Caputo Sr., in pursuit of greater opportunity.

Shortly after arriving in the United States, Pietro married the love of his life, Caterina. Together, they built a strong and loving family, welcoming their son Amerigo in 1972 and their daughter Antonietta in 1978.

Pietro worked tirelessly as a landscaper, saving diligently to achieve the American dream. In 1975, he purchased a home in Port Chester, New York, laying the foundation for a life built on perseverance and pride. He later started his own construction company, dedicating over 40 years to his craft. Known for his unmatched work ethic and hands-on approach, Pietro built not only structures, but a legacy of strength and integrity.

Even after semi-retiring in 2023, Pietro continued doing what he loved, moving heavy machinery, and delivering construction materials. Work was never just a job to him; it was a way of life.

His greatest pride and joy was his home in upstate NY, a dream he built with his own hands. There, he found peace in nature, especially while hunting and spending quiet time with his beloved cat, Grigio. He, also loved spending time with his hunting dogs, especially Buster who is buried on the property. Most of all, he cherished the moments when his entire family gathered together upstate, particularly during the holidays. One of his proudest accomplishments was becoming a US Citizen in 2020.

Pietro will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and a man whose strength, sacrifice, and dedication shaped generations.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Caterina; his son, Amerigo (Sara); his daughter, Antonietta (Salvatore); his four cherished grandchildren, Emma, Allison, Luciano, and Michaela; his brothers, Rocco (Domenica), Mario (Lucia) and his sister Giusseppina (Libertario).
