Rocco Primo Plateroti, 89, a longtime resident of Port Chester and a retired Detective Sergeant for the Village of Port Chester Police Department died January 17, 2024. He was born November 16, 1934 in Mount Kisco, NY to the late Dominick Plateroti, Sr., and Caroline Chirillo Plateroti. He was raised and educated in Port Chester graduating from Port Chester High School in 1953.
Rocco served in the United States Marine Corps. He served the Port Chester Police Department for 36 years and retired in 1995. He was a Police Officer, Detective Sergeant and will be most remembered for his position as Youth Sergeant working with Port Chester Schools and was the first to implement the D.A.R.E. program. He was very dedicated to the youth of the community. Rocco was very active in coaching youth sports including local football, baseball and basketball teams. He was a beloved coach and mentor.
He was married to Phyllis Spinnell on November 2, 1961 in Greenwich, CT., Rocco was a parishioner of the Corpus Christi Church in Port Chester.
He is survived by his devoted wife Phyllis Plateroti of Port Chester, NY, his beloved children, Rocco Plateroti, Jr. and his wife JoAnn of Rye Brook, NY., Roxanne Loomis and her husband Gregg of Port Chester, NY., Rick Plateroti and Heidi Hansen of Port Chester, NY., Marcel Magee and her husband Roy of Port Chester, NY., and Michael Masi and his wife Lauren of Stamford, CT. Grandchildren: Shelley Magee-Caruso, Gregory Loomis, Amanda Plateroti, Brian Loomis, Rachel Colasacco, Kalina Teller, Samantha Plateroti, Emily Magee, Trent Plateroti, Matthew Masi, Rebecca Masi and Kate Plateroti, great grandchildren Thomas Caruso, Ava Plateroti, Lorenzo Oliva and Cori Colasacco.
He is also survived by his brother Philip Ploteroti and sister Patricia Ritch
He was beloved by his grandchildren who enjoyed listening to his storytelling of his youth and life in Port Chester. He will be so missed!
A Memorial Mass will be held at the Parish of Saint John Bosco (Corpus Christi Church) 136 South Regent St. Port Chester, NY on Friday, February 9 th at 10 am.
