Our hearts are heavy as we announce the passing of our beloved mother Rose Ciancio, who went home to be with the Lord on May 10, 2026. A true mother in every sense of the word, Rose made her home a sanctuary of love, laughter and homemade cooking.
Known for her amazing green thumb, Rose loved gardening and always had an abundance of plants and flowers around her.
Born on September 16, 1934, in Morra De Sanctis, Avellino Italy to the late John and Antoinetta Ambrosecchia (ne. Lombardi), Rose emigrated to the United States in 1947 and settled in Greenwich, CT. She graduated Greenwich High School and worked for many years as a children’s clothing buyer at Kaplan’s department store in Port Chester, NY, with her lifelong best friend Alice Thalheimer.
Happily married on June 25,1960 to Silvio Ciancio, she was proud to live in the same home in Port Chester for 66 years, where she built lifelong memories for her two daughters. Her home was the hub for family, friends and neighbors to gather for many joyous occasions.
Rose was a mother figure to so many who loved and respected her for her “no nonsense” approach to facing life and its many ups and downs. She was always willing to offer a helping hand to those in need.
Her greatest source of pride and joy was her grandson Michael, whom she adored and called “her one and only”.
A parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy church in Port Chester, she is survived by her husband Silvio, daughters Tina Truini (Joe), Tammi Garvin (William) , grandson Michael Truini, sister in law Elena Ambrosecchia and many cherished nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews She is pre-deceased by her sister Carmela Ambrose, brother Angelo Ambrosecchia.
Visitation will be 9am-12pm on Friday May 15, 2026 at Craft Memorial Home, Inc. Mass of Christian Burial will follow 12:30pm at Saint Paul RC Church 84 Sherwood Ave. Greenwich, Ct. Entombment to follow at Saint Mary's Cemetery Rye Brook, NY.
