Sam Carriero, 94 of Port Chester died at his home in Cherry Hill, NJ on January 21, 2023.
He was a life-long resident of Westchester County and a resident of Port Chester for over 80 years.
As a young man, he tended the gardens and the farm animals at John Lyon Farm, later to become John Lyon Park.
Over the years, he worked in various trades and came to be known as a great sign maker and shop foreman with much of his work still in existence throughout Westchester County and New York City. He was an avid gardener and proudly talked about the various vegetables he grew.
Sam spent two years on the front lines of the Korean war, serving as a tank commander with a rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a proud veteran and would happily tell you stories from his times in the demilitarized zone.
Sam is predeceased by his siblings Anthony Carriero, Vincent Carriero, Carmen Carriero, his sister-in-law Judy, his brother-in-law John Mignone, his mother Catherine Carriero and his father Joseph Carriero.
