Sebastian J Mangini

Sebastian Joseph (“Sonny”) Mangini died on April 1, 2023, of natural causes, at the Enclave Nursing Home in Port Chester, NY. He was 100 years old. Mr. Mangini was born on August 12, 1922, the only child of Joseph and Rose Bologna Mangini in Port Chester. He was a 1940 graduate of Port Chester High School and attended Stewart
Technical School on Long Island before enlisting in the Army Air Corps in 1942. He served as an airplane mechanic during World War II. He married Lucy Nolletti of Mamaroneck NY in 1947. They lived in Rye Brook NY.
She died in 1999, after 52 years of marriage. For many years, Mr. Mangini owned the Main Tavern in Port Chester, and served as President of the Westchester Liquor Dealers in the early 1960’s. He was a partner in The Red Hackle Tavern and the Lion’s Share Restaurant in the 1960’s and early 1970’s. In later years, he was a popular barman at Gus’s Franklin Park Restaurant in Harrison. He enjoyed playing golf, and after retirement, enjoyed traveling with his longtime partner Connie Carrieri. He is remembered as a loving father and grandfather and as a friendly, social man with a wonderful tenor voice that suited him well in his years at the Main Tavern. When he was a member of Corpus Christi parish, he regularly volunteered to assist at Bingo nights. Sebastian was also a
member of Port Chester Old Timers, Knights of Columbus, the Elk’s Club and the American Legion.
In addition to his devoted companion, Ms. Carrieri, Mr. Mangini is survived by his daughter, JoAnn (Peter) Nahabedian, grandsons David (Kari) Kayiatos and Timothy Kayiatos, sons, Raymond (Alexandra) and Ronald Mangini, two granddaughters and two great-grandsons.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10AM on Thursday April 13, at St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church,  84 Sherwood Ave. and King Street, Greenwich CT, followed by inurnment at Greenwood Union Cemetery in Rye.
Memorial donations may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
