Silvio V. Buccieri, 91, a lifelong resident of Port Chester died peacefully surrounded by his family on October 4, 2021. He was born October 24, 1929 in Port Chester to the late Michael and Angela Passerelli Buccieri. He was raised and educated in Port Chester where he learned to love fishing and diving for clams and was a lifeguard at Oakland Pool from 1946-1949. He served in the United States Army and Air National Guard and was a member of the American Legion Post 128 in Rye New York as well as the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1576 in Port Chester, New York and a lifelong member of the Port Chester Yacht Club. Silvio was the supervisor of aviation for Webb & Knapp and then became a flight engineer for TexasGulf where he was a supervisor of aviation in their flight department at Westchester County Airport for 25 years. He was a member of the Westchester Aircraft Maintenance Association throughout his career. After retiring, he became an aviation consultant for seven years for Ogden Aviation Department and then Dun & Brad Street Flight Department.
Silvio became a freelance photographer and could be seen with his press pass and ever-present camera, photographing any number of happenings in Port Chester for anyone who asked and frequent contributions to the local newspapers.
Silvio was a lifelong parishioner of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Parish of Saint John Bosco and served as the Grand Marshal for the Columbus Day Parade in Port Chester in 2010. He was also a member of the Port Chester Old Timers Association.
Mr. Buccieri is survived by: his wife Eva DiMarzo Buccieri of Port Chester, New York; children Silvio Buccieri, Jr. and his wife Aida of Port Chester, New York; Angela O'Donnell and her husband Michael of Greenwich, Connecticut; Michael Buccieri and his wife Ilana of Rye, New York; Christopher Buccieri and his wife Jodie of Newtown, Connecticut; grandchildren Michael O'Donnell; Raphael, Gabriela, Gianna and Cristina Buccieri; Damian and Francesca Buccieri; and sister Mary Ferrara of Stamford, Connecticut. He was predeceased by his brothers Alfred, Frank and Michael Buccieri and sister Eleanor Pirrotta.
Visitation will not be held. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday October 8, 2021 at Parish of Saint John Bosco (Our Lady of Mercy), 360 Westchester Avenue, Port Chester, New York. Interment will follow at Saint Mary's Cemetery Rye Brook, New York.
