Stella Olsiewicz, 97, a longtime resident of Port Chester died December 26, 2023. She was born April 12, 1926 in Poland to the late Lawrence and Josephine Banas. Stella spent the first years of her life in Poland. As a teen she was forced to go to Germany where she spent the entire war working as a forced laborer. After the war, unable to return to Poland, she had to live in a displaced person's camp. There she met her husband, Paul, and had her first three children. After 10 years they were able to emigrate to the United States. There they were able to restart their lives and raise their family. Stella loved children (she raised more than just her own five), flowers (she could make anything grow and bloom) and cooking and baking. She had been a parishioner of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and then the Parish of Saint John Bosco.
She is survived by her children, Edward Olsiewicz and his wife Patricia of Port Chester, NY., Helen Hanratty of Mount Vernon, NY., Jean Boyd of Orem, Utah and Krystyna Olsiewicz of Bloomfield, NJ., son in law Milton Thomas of Stamford, Ct.
grandchildren Stuart Rende, Sarah Thomas and Samuel Boyd, great grandchildren Christopher Rende, Alex Rende and Natalie Rende.
Besides her husband she was predeceased by her daughter Judy Thomas.
Visitation will be 4-8PM on Tuesday January 2, 2023 at Craft Memorial Home, Inc. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10AM on Wednesday January 3, 2023 at Parish of Saint John Bosco (Corpus Christi Church) 136 South Regent St. Port Chester, NY. Interment to follow at Saint Mary's Cemetery North St. Greenwich, CT.
