Theresa Florence (Niedzialek) Powers

Theresa Florence Powers, 76, a resident of West Hartford, Ct and former longtime resident of Port Chester, NY died January 27, 2025. She was born October 3, 1948 to the late Edward Anthony Niedzialek and Marie Stefanowski Niedzialek.  She was raised and educated in Port Chester graduating from Resurrection Academy in Rye, NY and the University of Ohio.

Theresa was an Executive Assistant for the President of TransAmerica New York

She is survived by her sisters JoAnn DeCarlo and her husband Angelo and Mary Shekinah Shepard, nephews Rodney Maurer and his wife Elizabeth and Eddie Maurer and his fiance Casey Lei and her cat Maya. 

Theresa was a lover of animals, especially cats, she always had a cat or a dog as her constant companion.  The last four years of her life she lived with her sister JoAnn and her husband Angelo in West Hartford, CT. Before that she lived with her good friend Susan Westrell in Bethel, Ct.  Theresa lived most of her life in Port Chester, NY. Her favorite pastime was watching the UCONN Basketball Women's League play.  She was a devoted fan.  Theresa completed training for her black belt in Tang Soo Do Karate with her sister JoAnn and nephew Eddie.

"She was a good friend to all who knew her and she had a smile that lit up a room.  She will be greatly missed."
