Theresa Mazza Siclare, a 103 year old resident of Rye Brook, NY passed away on March 5, 2026. Tessie was born June 18, 1922 in Hazelton, PA to the late Antonio and Serafina Borello Mazza. She was raised and educated in Greenwich, CT, graduating from Greenwich High School in 1940.
She married Joseph Siclare on September 4, 1948 at Sacred Heart Church in Byram, CT. They were married for 75 years until Mr. Siclare passed away in May of 2023.
Tessie was a longtime employee of the Port Chester School District where she retired in 1999 at the age of 87. Tess was a devoted parishioner of Corpus Christi Church and School where she will be remembered organizing various events, preparing her wonderful pizza fritta for the Feast of San Donato, and as a Girl and Boy Scout Leader. She was instrumental in helping to build the schools first library and her favorite fund-raiser, the Carnation Ball which ran for a decade under her leadership.
Tess loved reading, coloring, crosswords and traveling. She traveled as far as the Middle East, but nothing made her happier than to be in her beloved Italy, except if Notre Dame won. But, her favorite hobby was the casino.
Tessie is survived by her beloved children, Anthony Siclare and his wife Cathy of Eastchester, NY., Mary Jeffries and her husband Will of Southbury, CT., Jo-Ann DellaPenna of Scarsdale, NY and Joseph Siclare and his wife Karen of Ridgefield, CT. Her grandchildren, Alyson Battenfeld (Chuck), Andrea Siclare, Dashiell Jeffries, Christian Jeffries (Hedy), Nicolette Siclare (Lauren) and Harrison Siclare will cherish the memories they made together.
Her great grandchildren, Andrew and Alexander Battenfeld, were such a joy to her as were her many nieces and nephews who will always remember her laughter and the special role she played in their lives.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her brothers James, Peter, Carmen and Louis, sisters Carmela D’Ariano and Mary Burna.
The family wishes to acknowledge the staff at The Fountains at Rivervue in Tuckahoe for their kindness and care. Visitation will be 2-6 on Sunday, March 8 at Craft Memorial Home in Port Chester with a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, March 9 at 10:00 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church at 136 South Regent St., Port Chester, NY. Entombment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Rye Brook, NY.
